Jack and Blumenthal's Photography store were very important to me for a long period of time. I still have many of the photos and slides from my Olean Camera Club days. He will be always remembered, never forgotten. The world was a better place with him in it. Rest in peace good friend.

Jack lived a long and notable life. He is known near and far for his beautiful wife and wonderful family. He is also known for his many years of business ventures and travel adventures. Recently friends and family visited with him while he is recognized and awarded for his dedicated service in the world of photography. It has been an honor to know Jack, during which time he has been my elder, my friends’ father, my peer, my boss, and ultimately my friend. I will always remember Jack for his “forward thinking” vision and his continuous eagerness to learn something new and then share it with others. He was a source of information, knowledge, education, and encouragement for many, many people. He will be missed! Sending sincerest condolences to his family and friends,

May Mr. B rest in peace. I remember him well when my own father,Ted, was alive and well, and rented the space from him between his store and Pickup's Diner. After classes at O.H.S. I would often walk down the hill to Union Street to sweep floors, empty ashtrays and make suit boxes at Henzel's Men's Shop. During breaks I usually went next door to marvel at the various sporting good items on display. If in his store and not busy at that time, Mr. B would come over and share his knowledge of certain items with me..As the saying goes," Gone, but not forgotten"........

It is with the utmost respect to you and your family that I mourn your loss today. You were a great mentor. You taught me to search out and focus on the true “value add” as it relates to both the art of the sale and the fundamentals of life. You were always willing to share those lessons of business, but perhaps not quite so knowingly sharing those of life as well. You took the time to show me the way, the Blumenthal way, and for that I am truly grateful. Rest in peace, Jack. You will never be forgotten.

I was sorry to hear about Jack. He was a good man and neighbor!. We are currently on our sailboat in Marsh Harbour, Abacos, Bahamas. Otherwise we would have been in Olean for Jack's funeral. He was the last man standing in the neighborhood and represents the end of an era. I will be sending a memorial in Jack's name to Hospice of Olean. I am sorry for your loss. Mike

Jennie and All of the Blumenthal Family, my deepest sympathy to you. Jack was truely a good man, who in addition to his business successes, loved animals, gardening, and most of all was an activist for the environment. Thank you, Jack for helping to end the clear cutting of trees on the west end of Olean and most of all for helping to keep the proposed Farmersville landfill out of Cattaraugus County.

I was blessed to interpret at Blumenthal's for a number of years, having Jack's wisdom and wisecracks pass through my hands to a Deaf employee. It was there that I learned a respect I had not yet experienced. I continue to be blessed by the friendship of his son Howard and his dedication to traditional music. Love to all the Blumenthals as you learn how to live beyond Jack's passing.
