Obituary of Ruth Spaulding

Ruth M. Spaulding Olean, NY-Ruth M. Spaulding, formerly of 3030 W. State Rd. died Friday (December 4, 2009) in The Absolut of Allegany. Born August 18, 1920 in Allegany she was the daughter of Alexander and Nora Metzinger Hirsch. She was formerly married March 6, 1948 at St. Joseph New Cathedral in Buffalo to Willis Clark Spaulding Mrs. Spaulding was a 1938 graduate of Allegany High School and soon after resided in Buffalo where she worked as a secretary for Curtis Wright Corporation from 1942 to 1945. She then was employed as a bookkeeper for The Buffalo News from 1945 until her retirement November 21, 1977. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and its Altar Society. She resided in Englewood, FL for a number of years where as an avid golfer she belonged to the Englewood Golf and Country Club. She was also a member of the Alameda Isle Homeowners Association. Surviving are several cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her former husband; 1 brother James Lee Hirsch and 2 sisters Ellyn Marie Hirsch and Jane C. Hirsch. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig &amp; Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 1-4pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (December 7, 2009) beginning with a prayer service at 10:00am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
