ROBERT D. BLINN
ALLEGANY – Robert D. Blinn of Blinn Rd., Allegany died Monday December 22, 2003 at the Olean General Hospital. Born in Bolivar, NY on January 22, 1912 he was a son of George A. and Frankie Mae Turner Blinn. On October 30, 1937 he married Pauline Cross who predeceased him in February of 2003.
Mr. Blinn served with the United States Army and the United States Navy. He was employed at the Olean Glass Factory, Olean Tile Plant, Clark Brothers, ACME Electric and owned and operated the Tasty Twirl Restaurant in Allegany from 1959 until his retirement. He was a member of the Allegany Free Methodist Church and also a member of the Fort !McCoy Methodist Church in Fort !McCoy, FL. He loved trees, gardening and flowers. He enjoyed working and following his retirement, he enjoyed spending winters in Florida.
He is survived by two sons, Robert (Margaret) Blinn of Ill and Donald (Linda) Blinn of Allegany; three daughters, Shirley Blinn of Fl, Mary Ellen Blinn and Sharon (Bruce) Hemphill, both of Allegany; ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and a sister, Laurel Miel of Fl. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by sisters Buelah Kinney, Edna Wilson, Gertrude Blinn and a brother Jim Seamon.
There will be no public visitations. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday December 29, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the Allegany Free Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Free Methodist Church, Fort !McCoy Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean.
