Norman "Mickey" E. George Jr.
“Loving Husband, Dad and Papa”
Olean—Norman “Mickey” E. George, Jr. of 207 Adams Street passed away Friday (February 15, 2008) at his home surrounded by his family after a long illness.
Born October 4, 1945 in Olean he was the son of Norman E. and Gertrude Mae Frederick George, Sr. On July 22, 1963 in Olean, he married Edna Stark who survives.
Mickey was self employed and later he worked at Dresser Rand Co. for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, camping and carpentry and he loved picking blueberries with his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife are their four children Robert (Denise) George, Ronda (Ron) Pletel, Tina George and Thomas (Joni) George, all of Olean; 6 brothers and sisters Barbara (Lee) Riggs of Allegany, Dorothy (Daniel) Hirt of Allegany, Linda (John) Kemp of Olean, Nancy (Larry) Bartz of Arcade, William George, Sr. of Olean, James (Denise) George of Cuba, 10 grandchildren Heather, Justin, Kyle, Taylor George of Olean, Mickey, Bradley, Katie Pletl of Olean, Tiffany, Stephanie and Thomas Jr., George of Olean; 8 sisters-in-laws; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Friends will be received at Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road, Olean on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Tuesday (February 19, 2008) at the funeral home. Rev. Richard Keel will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery.
