"loving wife, mother and grandmother"
Olean, NY-- Sheryl L. Johnson of 110 N. 9th St. died Wednesday (May 14, 2003) in the Olean General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born November 8, 1946 in Cuba, NY she was the daughter of Edward J. and Virginia Cummings Miller. On July 28, 1966 in Portville, NY she married Raymond A. Johnson who survives.
Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Richburg High School and had resided in Olean for the past 41 years. She had a thirty-nine year career with Community Bank, starting in the bookkeeping department in 1964. Two years later, she accepted a position in the Trust Department. During the next thirty-seven years, she performed a variety of duties in the Trust Department, including those of her most recent position as a Trust Securities Representative. While employed with the bank, Sherry was very well liked and she developed many long-standing relationships with customers and fellow employees.
She was a member of the St. Stephen’s Club Ladies Auxiliary and she enjoyed crocheting, reading and gardening. She also enjoyed her family and her years of working at the bank.
Surviving besides her husband are 2 daughters Beth Ann (John) Ratzel of Smethport, Pa and Amy Lynn Johnson of Olean; 2 granddaughters; 6 sisters Janice Clark, Pamela Worth, Patricia !McKay, Karen Miller, Connie Howard and Virginia Seaman; 6 brothers John Miller, Lawrence Miller, James Miller, Brent Howard, Drew Howard and Steve Howard and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday (May 17, 2003) at 1:00pm in the funeral home. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
