Obituary of Joseph F. Shrauger

Joseph F. Shrauger, Jr. “Loving husband, father and grandfather” Portville, NY—Joseph F. Shrauger, Jr. of 185 W. Carroll Rd. died Wednesday (May 14, 2008) in his home. Born January 19, 1921 in Dubois, PA he was the son of Joseph F. and Ethel Masters Shrauger, Sr. On June 26, 1970 in Wheatfield he married Shirley I. Monroe who survives. Mr. Shrauger attended school in !DuBois and later was a self employed mechanic in Ilion and N. Tonawanda for 35 years. He was then employed for over 8 years by the former AVX Ceramics, now Advanced Monolythic Ceramics, retiring in June of 1986. He was a member of the Portville United Methodist Church and he always enjoyed hunting and fishing. After his retirement he spent a lot of time restoring antique vehicles. Surviving besides his wife are 2 sons Larry J. (Janet) Shrauger of Olean and Duane E. Shrauger of Portville; 2 grandsons Jeremy Shrauger and Aaron Shrauger; 1 great grandson; 1 brother Herbert M. Shrauger of N. Tonawanda; 1 half brother Robert (Dorothy) Shrauger of !DuBois, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Gladys Clyde and a half sister Margaret Buckman. There will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville. Memorials may be made to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760.
