William Clayton Wiedman
Allegany, NY—William Clayton Wiedman of 13 Oak St. died Tuesday (January 2, 2007) in The Waters of Allegany after a short illness.
Born September 2, 1915 in Olean, NY he was the son of Walter and Ethel Bussler Wiedman. On October 22, 1944 in Bellevue, OH he married Emma Louise Flenner who survives.
Mr. Wiedman was a 1933 graduate of Allegany High School and resided in Allegany all of his life. He first worked for the Wiedman Ice Cream Co. in Olean prior to serving with the US Coast Guard during WWII. He then worked for over fifty years as owner and operator of Wiedman Commercial Refrigeration, retiring once he worked until the age of ninety.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany, the Refrigeration Service Engineer Society and was a life member of the Exchange Club of Olean.
Surviving besides his wife are 1 daughter Paula (Richard) Bzdak of Allegany; 1 son William (Colleen) Wiedman of Allegany; 2 granddaughters; 3 sisters Doris Wiedman and Dorcus Wiedman, both of Allegany and Janice (Clink) Voorhees of Olean and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. A William Clayton Wiedman Memorial Scholarship Fund is being established and contributions in his memory may be directed to the Allegany Limestone School.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
