Robert W. Biehler “Loving husband, father and grandfather” Olean, NY—Robert W. Biehler of 904 Washington St. died Friday (March 2, 2007) in the Fairport Baptist Home in Fairport, NY after a short illness. Born November 14, 1932 in Olean, NY he was the son of Carl and Helen Witherell Biehler. On August 20, 1966 in Olean he married Margaret Stosser who survives. Mr. Biehler was a 1950 graduate of Olean High School and then received a B.S. in Economics from Wharton School of Business and Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. He also received a Master’s Degree in Education from St. Bonaventure University. He served for 5 years in the US Air Force in England and the United States as a supply officer having achieved the rank of First Lieutenant. He taught high school business subjects for several years, mainly at Keshequa Central School in Nunda, NY. He then was the district life insurance representative for many years for Lutheran Brotherhood Fraternal Life Insurance Company. He achieved the designation of Life Underwriters Training Council Fellow. He also served as the Deputy City Clerk in Olean for four years. Upon his retirement he continued to service policies he had sold, as well as being a substitute instructor at BOCES. Mr. Biehler was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olean and had served as a Deacon and Usher for many years. Surviving besides his wife are 2 children Timothy (Teresa) Biehler of Fairport and Susan (Anthony) Welch of Wilmington, NC and 4 grandchildren Julia Biehler, Lily Biehler, Haley Welch and Taylor Welch. Funeral services will be held Monday (March 5, 2007) at 1:00pm in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fourth and Laurens St. in Olean. Visitation with the family will take place an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are by the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
