Michael F. Ellman
Olean—Michael F. Ellman of 1210 Maple St. Olean, passed away Wednesday (December 5, 2007) at his home.
Born August 12, 1910 in Olean, NY he was the son of Frank and Catherine Sturin Ellman. In 1947, at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean, he married Marjorie !McGavisk who survives.
Mr. Ellman was one of the oldest surviving WWII veterans in Olean. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in France, Belgium and Austria and received the Bronze Star.
Mr. Ellman was employed by Bush Brothers in Olean for 25 years. He was also a life member of the Pulaski Club as well as a member of the Transfiguration Church.
Surviving besides his wife are 2 sons Anthony (Theresa) Ellman of Olean and Michael (Xiao Juan) Ellman, also of Olean; 1 sister Josephine Bean of Noxen PA; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be private on Friday from 6-8pm at Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road, Olean. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday (December 8, 2007)at 1pm at the Transfiguration Church in Olean. Rev. Jerry Stelmach, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
