Richard M. Wilber
Allegany, NY—Richard M. Wilber, formerly of Pine St. and recently of Absolut of Salamanca, died Sunday (December 9, 2007) in the Olean General Hospital.
Born July 11, 1926 in Humphrey, NY he was the son of Ray and Eva Williams Wilber.
Mr. Wilber attended Allegany High School and then served in WWII with the US Army from 1945 until 1946. He worked for most of his career at Potter Lumber Co. in Allegany. During his later years he operated a cleaning service in the Olean and Allegany area.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olean and the Sixty Plus Club in Allegany.
Surviving are 3 aunts Beulah Baldwin of Olean, Blanche Dutton of Allegany, Gertrude Keim of Allegany and several cousins.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday (December 13, 2007) from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the funeral home. Rev. Dan !McDowell, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in the Five Mile Cemetery, Allegany.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the First Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
