Obituary of Marcia Bea Snyder

Marcia B. Snyder “Always concerned for others” Olean, NY-- Marcia B. Snyder of 172 W. Riverside Dr. died unexpectedly Sunday (April 2, 2006) shortly after arrival at Olean General Hospital. Born May 12, 1937 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Raymond C. and Georgia M. Ostergard Russell. On November 25, 1964 at the First Presbyterian Church in Olean she married Frank W. Snyder who survives. Mrs. Snyder was a 1955 graduate of Olean High School and had resided in Olean most of her life. She spent some years living in Westfield, NY and Jamestown, NY prior to moving back to Olean almost 30 years ago. She was a faithful, lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Olean and had served as a deacon. She was also a ceramics hobbyist. She volunteered her ceramic talents as an activities leader for the Cattaraugus County Guidepost Center. She will be remembered as one who lived her life by the motto of placing others needs ahead of her own by providing care for anyone she could, and she was a dedicated volunteer for Interfaith Caregivers. Surviving besides her husband are several nieces, a nephew and several cousins. She was predeceased by a brother Robert Russell on October 8, 2003. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (April 6, 2006) at 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church, Olean. Rev. Gary Larson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to Interfaith Caregivers 124 N. Union St. PO Box 319 Olean, NY 14760.
