Allegany, NY-- Juanita D. Kardos, formerly of Eden Heights and Colonial Village died Tuesday (May 23, 2006) in The Waters of Allegany after a long illness.
Born March 24, 1918 in Corton, W. Virginia she was the daughter of Frank D. and Ada Moore Smith. On April 4, 1943 in Clendenin, W. VA she married Dr. George Kardos who predeceased her August 12, 1995.
Mrs. Kardos was a 1937 graduate of Clendenin High School and received her RN degree in 1941 from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Charleston, W. Virginia.
A longtime Olean resident, she and her husband had traveled extensively over the years, including Europe. From 1978 to 1990 they resided in Bradenton, FL. She was a member of the Sixty Plus Club of Allegany and also was active in the sewing club and the Merry Maids. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
Surviving are 2 sons Dr. Thomas F. (Emma) Kardos of San Antonio, TX and Dr. Larry P. (Nancy) Kardos of Allegany; 1 daughter Dr. Linda S. (Dr. Howard Robbins) Kardos of Stuart, FL; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and a niece Eva Kato of Toronto, CN.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by an infant son John David Kardos.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean today from 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Friday (May 26, 2006) at 10:00am in the funeral home. Rev. David Scharf, assistant pastor of the First Free Methodist Church of Allegany, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Allegany Fire Department.
