Emil J. Yehl
OLEAN—Emil J. Yehl, 77 of 505 School Street and a former Stony Point resident, passed away Saturday (June 17, 2006) in the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio following a brief illness.
Born August 15, 1928 in Allegany, NY he was the son of Arthur and Annie Welsh Yehl. He married the former Patricia Manley on July 30, 1949 in Allegany, NY. Mrs. Yehl preceded him in death in 1991.
Mr. Yehl was a former employee of the Clark Brothers Corp in Olean and was later employed by the Algonquin Gas Company as a supervisor, while living in Stony Point, NY. He then retired in 1992.
Mr. Yehl was a member of St. John’s Church in Olean, the Stony Point Democratic Club, the Stony Point Lions Club and the Stony Point Ambulance Corps.
Surviving are three sons; Terry (Donna) Yehl of Benton City, WA, Paul (Loma) Yehl of Highland Falls, NY and John (Linda) Yehl of New Paltz, NY; two daughters; Brenda Duraski of Bowling Green, KY, and Valerie Berger of Olean; two brothers Arthur (Marion) Yehl of Allegany and Thomas (Dorothy) Yehl of Allegany; one sister Anna Mae Wenzel of Allegany; nine grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Yehl was preceded in death by one son, Richard Yehl in 2006; two brothers Robert Yehl and Joseph Yehl and one sister Marion Atcheson.
Friends may call at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home; 3128 West State Road, Olean on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday (June 23, 2006) beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John’s Church at 10 AM. Msgr. William Wangler, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany. A scriptural wake service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 8:45 PM.
