Stephen M. Lippert
Allegany- Stephen M. Lippert of 3863 Old State Road, passed away Tuesday July 25,2006 at his home after a brief illness.
Born February 26, 1925 in Eldred PA he was the son of Matthew and Mary Stephens Lippert. On June 11, 1946 he married Beatrice Grandusky who survives. Mr. Lippert was a 1943 graduate of Allegany High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp from 1944-1946, serving in World War 2 in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Lippert worked in the local oil field for many years. He was self-employed as a dairy farmer with his father. From 1966-1985 he and his wife owned and operated the Allegany Liquor Store.
He was a member of St. John’s Church in Vandalia, a life member and past Commander of Charles Harbel Legion Post 892 Allegany; a long time member of the Allegany Fire Department, a member of the Cuba V.F.W. Post 2721 Cuba, a member of the Allegany K of C council 1220, and a former town councilman for the Town of Allegany. Mr. Lippert also volunteered his time with the Meals on Wheels for 10 years.
Surviving besides his wife of 60 years are 9 children, Matthew (Cathy) Lippert of Allegany, David (Barbara) Lippert of Allegany , Stephanie (Brian) Klice of Friendship, Thomas (Josephine) Lippert of Allegany, Mary Ann (Don) Yehl of Allegany, Daniel (Dorothy) Lippert of Olean, Lynn (Penny) Lippert of Allegany, Melodie (Richard) Giardini of Allegany and Carol (Dean) Truman of Allegany; 24 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren; and a sister Jane !McCaffrey of Allegany. He was predeceased by a sister Virginia Yehl.
Friends may call Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home Thursday (July 27) 2-4, 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Church Friday (July 28) at 10 am. Burial in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. Members of the Legion Post 892 will conduct full military honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Allegany Fire Department or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
