Blake H. Schachter
"Loving father, brother, friend"
Blake H. Schachter, 45, of Olean, NY, passed away due to natural causes on Thursday (August 31, 2006) in his home.
He was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pa at 1989 Hopewell Circle, a son of the late S. Arthur and Beverly Sobol Schachter.
He was a 1979 graduate of Freedom High School where he was active in sports and numerous extra-curricular activities. Blake also served his country with the US Army where he was honorably discharged in 1983.
He was the owner and operator of Kitchen Exhaust Specialists of Olean for over 15 years. He was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed using his knowledge to help others.
Blake provided the warmest of welcomes with the most genuine sincerity. He loved nothing more than spending quality time with his children and took great pride in their success. Any friend of Corey or Staci’s knew that they also had a friend in Blake. His irreverent style and unique sense of humor will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Blake enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons with his son cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles, and welcomed every opportunity to spend time with his daughter.
He is survived by his beloved son; Corey Schachter of Olean, his devoted daughter; Staci Schachter of Olean, his sister, Kim (Philip) Yow and precious niece Beverly of Freehold, NJ; his brother Eric Schachter of Boulder, CO; 5 aunts, 2 uncles, 12 first cousins, 25 second cousins and numerous friends in his extended family.
Services will be held at 2:30 pm Monday (September 4, 2006) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 West State Rd. Olean. Open casket visitation will precede the service on Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held in the Bethlehem area at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the charity of your choice in his name.
