John J. Alexsa
Allegany, NY—John J. Alexsa of 3288 Buffalo Rd. died Tuesday (September 5, 2006) in The Waters of Salamanca.
Born March 22, 1920 in Olean, NY he was the son of George and Mary Olexa. On October 7, 1944 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean he married Catherine Elniskey who survives.
Mr. Alexsa was educated in Olean, including the Transfiguration Parochial School and had resided in Allegany for over forty years. He was retired since 1985 from Dresser Clark Co. where he last worked as a crane operator.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and the Pulaski Club for many years. Some of his favorite activities were gardening and taking care of animals.
Surviving besides his wife are a niece Carol Ann Witter of Rochester and a nephew Daniel Dischinger of Granbury, TX and several cousins.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers George Jurenko and Paul Jurenko and a sister Anne Jurenko.
There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend a prayer service at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (September 9, 2006) at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Fr. Richard C. Flaherty, OFM, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the SPCA of Cattaraugus County or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
