“loving mother and grandmother”
Olean, NY—Norma J. Grader of 3299 W. River Rd., town of Allegany died Thursday (September 28, 2006) at the home of her daughter in Port Allegany, PA.
Born September 6, 1933 in Allegany, NY she was the daughter of Ervin and Genevieve Dutton Putt. On September 27, 1952 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany she married Thomas G. Grader who predeceased her May 20, 2006.
Mrs. Grader was a lifelong resident of Allegany and had worked at the former !McCaffery’s Dress Shop in Allegany as well as the Allegany High School cafeteria for 22 years. She then worked at the Kmart cafeteria and also opened and cleaned the Allegany Laundromat for 24 years. She later cleaned for Trans Am Services and also for private residents in Olean prior to her retirement.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany. Through the years she and her husband enjoyed riding their Harley motorcycle around the country, also going to bluegrass and country music festivals. They also enjoyed visiting county and state fairs as well as the Canadian National Exhibition several times. Most of all, she and her husband took pride in their yard work and decorating for the holidays.
Surviving are 1 son Michael Grader of Allegany; 1 daughter Kim (Ralph) Anderson of Port Allegany, PA; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a special cousin Kenneth (Ann) Putt of Olean who was raised with her like a brother; a special aunt Della Rambuski of Allegany; a sister-in-law Irene Stephen of Rochester and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister Vivian Putt.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean tonight from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday (September30, 2006) at 10:00am. Rev. Gregory Brennan, OFM, of St. Bonaventure University, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
