FRANCES MARY BERGSTROM
KENMORE -Frances Mary Bergstrom of Kenmore, NY formerly of Olean died Monday August 4, 2003 at Schofield Residence. Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada on April 27, 1912 she was a daughter of Oliver J. and Margaret E. Kasperski Gauthier. On November 26, 1936 she married Walter Bergstrom who predeceased her February 4, 1993.
Mrs. Bergstrom attended and graduated from the Olean Teachers Training School and received her teaching certificate at Fredonia. She taught country school on the Windfall Rd. and was a substitute teacher for various Olean public and parochial schools. She later taught fifth grade at St. John's parochial school prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church, and volunteered for St. Francis Hospital, PTA, College Club and the Campfire Council.
She is survived by two daughters; Mary Carol Radel of Tonawanda, NY and L. Anne (Michael) Gnagi of East Lansing, MI; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Sawyer and a brother, Frederick Gauthier.
There will be no public visitations. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday August 7, 2003 beginning with a prayer service at 9:30 AM at Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Angel's Church. Fr. Gregory Dobson, pastor will be celebrant. Burial and committal services will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY. Memorials may be made to the SPCA in Cattaraugus County, St. Mary of the Angel's Church or to the Schofield Residence, 3333 Elmwood Ave., Kenmore, NY 14217.
