Linden, NC-- Shirley M. Edel Crusen, 73, of 95 Will Lucas Rd. died Saturday (January 29, 2005) in her home after a short illness.
Born December 24, 1931 in Jamestown, NY she was the daughter of Henry C. and Violet Nelson Edel.
Mrs. Crusen attended St. Bonaventure Parochial School and was a 1949 graduate of Allegany Central School. She had resided in Fayetteville, NC for the past forty years. She had been employed as a swimming instructor and life guard, as a bus driver, and in recent years had acquired her tractor trailer driver license, retiring from driving in 1996.
She was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Fayetteville, and she enjoyed gardening and was admired for her excellent homemade jam.
Surviving are 5 sons Kenneth M. (Barbara) Crusen of Linden, NC, Erwin "Richey" Crusen, Jr. of Mechanicsville, VA, Christopher L. Crusen of Fuquay-Varina, NC and identical twins Terrance "Terry" M. Crusen of Angier, NC and Lawrence T. "Larry" Crusen of Linden, NC; 2 daughters Denise "Mickey" (Larry) Skipper of Linden, NC and Marcia J. (John) Schornak of Huntersville, NC; 1 brother Theodore "Ted" (Marie) Edel of Allegany; 2 sisters Janice Reiley of Bradford, PA and Teresa Edel-Remmy (Cleatus Remmy) of Englewood, FL; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (February 5, 2005) from 10:00am until noon at which time a prayer service will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30pm in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Church.
