John E. Dincher, Jr. John E. Dincher, Jr., of 129 N. 5th St., Allegany, NY and a longtime resident of The Waters of Salamanca Nursing Home, died today (Friday August 30, 2002) after a long illness. Born May 7, 1957 in Buffalo, NY he was the son of John E. and Mary Deisher Dincher, Sr. Mr. Dincher was a 1975 graduate of Allegany Central School and he also attended Jamestown Community College. In 1975 he began active duty in the US Army as a paratrooper with the Co. C 27th Engineers Battalion. He then served 2 years in the NYS National Guard until 1980. He had been employed by the Village of Allegany as a K-9 officer from 1979 until 1985, retiring due to ill health. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, the US Army Reserves, was a former member of the Allegany Knights of Columbus Council 1220, and was an honorary life member of the Allegany Fire Department. Surviving are his parents of Allegany; his maternal grandmother Augusta Sherwood of Montoursville, Pa.; 2 daughters Jamie Lynn Dincher and Rene Susan Dincher, both of Weston’s Mills, NY; 1 sister Mary Anne (Kevin) Mc Mahon of Corona, Ca. and 1 brother Joseph M. (Kim) Dincher of Odenton, Md. and 5 nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean where a prayer service will be held Monday (September 3, 2002) at 12:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00pm in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Kevin Downey, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be on Tuesday in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society WNY Chapter 4245 Union Rd. Cheektowaga, NY 14225, the Allegany Fire Department or to St. Bonaventure Church.
