Obituary of Robert E. Barrey

Robert E. Barrey Olean, NY-- Robert E. Barrey of 216 N. 11th St. died Wednesday (February 9, 2005) in his home. Born April 10, 1927 in Rushford, NY he was the son of Andrew F. and Alta M. Atwater Barrey. On April 9, 1949 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Olean he married Alice C. Brown who predeceased him October 6, 1987. Mr. Barrey formerly resided in Franklinville and had lived on 11th Street in Olean most of his life. He was a veteran of WWII having served with the US Navy in Okinawa. He worked for Dresser Industries in Olean for 39 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Olean American Legion. He also enjoyed his membership at the St. Stephen’s Club, the Eagle’s Club of Olean and the Pulaski Club. Surviving are a son Scott Barrey of Cuba; a daughter Sharon (Iain) Grassick of Perth, Australia; 2 grandsons Robert Grassick and Robert Barrey; 1 sister Norma Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by 5 brothers Norman Barrey, Charles Barrey, Hugh Barrey, Gordon Barrey and Donald Barrey and 2 sisters Viola Camphire and Inez M. Faulhaber. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (February 14, 2005) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Gerald Piper, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society.
