Obituary of Sally L. Abdo

SALLY L. ABDO "Beloved Nana" OLEAN – Sally L. Abdo, formerly of Higgens Avenue and Eden Heights died Thursday March 3, 2005 at the Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center, Olean campus. Born in Clarendon, PA on June 30, 1914 she was a daughter of Dominic and Mary Lamenza Praino. On June 10, 1939 in Clarendon, PA she married James A. Abdo who predeceased her August 18, 1998. Sally was employed as a cashier for Market Basket and Grants and later worked in the housekeeping department at St. Bonaventure University. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the senior league and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She is survived by a daughter Sharon Burrows of Olean; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren; a sister Lucy Bischalany of Texas and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son David J. Abdo in 1989; a brother Pat Praino and sisters Barbara !DiTanto and Clara Abdo. Friends will be received on Friday March 4, 2005 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday March 5th beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:30 AM followed by the Liturgy of the Faithful Departed at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church. Fr. Joseph Akiki, pastor will be celebrant. Burial and committal services will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
