Daniel J. Sheahan
Salamanca, NY-- Daniel J. Sheahan of 19 ½ Armstrong St., formerly of Vandalia died Saturday (September 10, 2005) in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY after a long illness.
Born June 2, 1951 In Olean, NY he was the son of John V. “Jake” Sheahan, II and Colleen Hogan Sheahan.
Mr. Sheahan was a graduate of Archbishop Walsh High School and attended Alfred State College. He had been employed for several years for Clark Brothers in Olean where he worked as a material handler and also worked in the CCP Department. More recently he was a self-employed landscaper in the area.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially bird watching and gardening. In his youth he was a downhill ski racer having accumulated several trophies.
Surviving besides his father John V. (Veronica) Sheahan, II of Skaneateles and his mother Colleen Sheahan of Cuba are 2 sisters Kathleen (Lawrence Smith) Moriarty of Richland, NY and Maureen Sheahan of Olean; 2 half brothers John V. Sheahan, III and Brenden Sheahan, both of Skaneateles; 2 nieces Marie Moriarty Hayes and Eileen !McClure; 1 nephew Francis L. !McClure; 2 great nephews; 1 aunt Mary Sheahan Felcoski of Summerland Key, FL; 2 uncles Patrick Hogan of Lake Placid, FL and John Hogan of Allegany and a close friend and former brother-in-law Frank C. !McClure of Olean.
He was predeceased by an uncle Charles Dennis Hogan and an aunt Marge Sheahan Pfuntner.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday (September 17, 2005) at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean from 10:00am until 11:00am at which time a memorial mass will be celebrated. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Olean General Hospital.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
