Obituary of Marie C. Bump

Marie C. Bump "loving mother, grandmother and friend" Allegany, NY-- Marie C. Bump of 7 N. 2nd St. died unexpectedly Tuesday (September 30, 2003) in the Cuba Memorial Hospital. Born June 10, 1920 in Allegany she was the daughter of Herman and Wilhelmina Karnuth Hamm. On April 27, 1944 in Spartanburg, SC she married Harold C. "Bumpy" Bump who predeceased her November 4, 1977. Mrs. Bump was a graduate of Allegany High School and of Westbrook Commercial Academy. She was employed for several years for the former Winchester Optical Co. in Olean and also was a homemaker where she enjoyed raising her family. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany. Surviving are 3 sons Carl (Kathy) Bump of Conover, NC, David (Kathie) Bump of Hinsdale and Paul (Candy) Bump of Buffalo; 7 grandchildren Bill, Brian, Jodie, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Jessica and Jeanette; 3 great grandchildren Ryan, Dylan and Toby Joe; 1 brother Carl (Gene) Hamm of Bellingham, WA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 1 son James D. Bump on September 19, 2002. Friends will be received today from 7-9pm and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Friday (October 3, 2003) beginning with a prayer service at 10:30am in the funeral home, followed by a service at 11:00am in St. John’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Gerard leFeber, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. John‘s Lutheran Church, Allegany, NY.
