Lionel Clare Deibler
"Avid hunter and fisherman"
Olean, NY--Lionel Clare Deibler, a 5 year resident of Underwood Manor in Hinsdale and a longtime W. Highland Ave. resident in Olean died Friday (January 16, 2004) in the Cuba Skilled Nursing Facility.
Born March 11, 1914 in Olean, NY he was the son of Gordon and Eda Hartwig Deibler. On October 5, 1935 at Springfield Lutheran Church in Franklinville, NY he married Thelma Myrick who predeceased him January 18, 1990.
Mr. Deibler was a graduate of Olean High School and resided in Olean most of his life. He worked for Dresser Clark Co. as an inspector for 34 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Retired Steelworkers Local 4601 and was an honorary member of the Hinsdale Fire Department. He was also one of the founders of the Olean Rod and Gun Club. Known to his friends as "Clare", he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are 4 children Charles Deibler of Allegany, Ronald (Mary) Deibler, Nancy Jurenko and Linda "Sue" (Robert) Mikolajczyk, all of Hinsdale; 19 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 2 brothers Richard (Mary) Deibler of Olean and Clayton (Helen) Deibler of California; 1 son-in-law John Barber, Sr. of Hinsdale and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a daughter Roberta Barber and an infant daughter Rena Deibler; 2 brothers Lyn Deibler and Robert Deibler; a daughter-in-law Shirley Deibler and a son-in-law John Jurenko.
Friends will be received today (Sunday) from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Monday (January 19, 2004) at 1:00pm in the funeral home. Rev. Barry Allaire, pastor of St. Helen’s RC Church in Hinsdale, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department.
