Irene J. Pierce
Allegany, NY Irene J. Pierce, of 2715 Five Mile Rd., passed away Saturday (September 7, 2024) at The Pines of Olean.
Born November 21, 1925 in Allegany, she was the daughter of Eugene and Irene Lippert Foster. On May 12, 1944 she married John Moshier who predeceased her in August of 1973. On May 2, 1981 she married Cecil Pierce who passed away in December of 2011.
Irene was a 1942 graduate of Allegany Central School and had resided in Allegany her entire life. She was employed at various places in the Olean area including the former AVX Co. for close to 20 years, lastly as floor manager.
She was a former member of the women’s auxiliary of the Allegany Fire Department and was a parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church.
She enjoyed baking cookies as a hobby.
She leaves behind 9 children, John (Cynthia) Moshier of Allegany, Daniel (Lynn) Moshier of Allegany, Nina (Duane) Dutton of Tulsa, OK, Thomas (Christine) Moshier of Matthews, NC, Garry (Theresa) Moshier of Lothian, MD, Carol (David) Ozzella of Allegany, Barbara (Robert) Driscoll of Allegany, Tania (William) Hilliard of Olean; a daughter-in-law Sandra Moshier of Allegany; 21 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; 6 step children, Sharon Foster of Olean, Leigh Hadsell of Buffalo, Cecelia Peterson of Birdsall, Lynn (Dennis) Nunn of Allentown, Keith (Veronica) Pierce of Valatie, and Kenneth (Cindy) Pierce of Belmont; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; 2 brothers, twins Edward (Nancy) Foster and Carl (Gloria) Foster, both of Allegany; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and four sisters-in-law, Sandra Foster of Ft. Pierce, FL, Gloria Foster of Allegany, Nancy Foster of Allegany, and Sharon Foster of Olean.
He was predeceased by a son, David Moshier; 7 brothers, Herman Foster, Lawrence Foster, Eugene Foster, Stephen Foster, Kenneth Foster, Joseph Foster, and Robert Foster; 4 sisters, Sophie Wolf, Kathleen Scull, Patricia Foster, and Shirley Papasergi; 2 stepchildren, Leigh Hadsell and Lynn Nunn, and a best friend of 80+ years, Carrie Clark.
The family invites friends to a memorial visitation on Thursday (September 12, 2024) from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A service will begin at 7pm in the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Chris Emminger.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
