Allegany, NY-- Lillian G. Dascomb of 3267 Buffalo Rd. died unexpectedly Tuesday (February 24, 2004) in her home.
Born July 8, 1920 in Farmingdale, NY she was the daughter of Joseph and Providence Baccarella Lombardi. In March 1950 she married William E. Dascomb who predeceased her July 24, 1980.
Mrs. Dascomb was a graduate of Baldwin High School on Long Island and then worked at Grumman Aircraft Co. as a secretary to the president for three years. She then received nursing training after joining the Air Force Nurses Corps. She earned a BS degree in Nursing at Alfred University and, after her marriage, began working at the Olean General Hospital for 12 years. She also worked as an industrial nurse at Clark Bros. in Olean for 10 years. From 1968 until 1978 she worked with her husband as an owner of Don Adams, Inc. in Olean.
All of her life she had a passion for art and she became practiced at painting. She was an active member of the Olean Art Association. Because of her and her husband’s interest in antique cars, she belonged to the Allegheny Valley Vintage Car Club and she was the editor of the antique car club magazine "Over the Roads" for several years. She enjoyed gardening, and she also had a special place in her heart for animals. She was a member of the Olean Kennel Club and served on the Board of Directors for the SPCA.
Surviving are 1 daughter Lois (Tim) Bergan of Humphrey; 2 granddaughters Janeen M. Bergan and Bonnie Bergan, both of Humphrey; 1 brother Caspar L. (Joan) Lombardi of San Antonio, TX and several nieces and nephews including James and Holly Gleason and family from Bath, NY.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 2 brothers Frank Lombardi and Joseph Lombardi.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Friday (February 27, 2004) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the SPCA 2944 Olean- Hinsdale Rd. Olean, NY 14760.
