Obituary of Shirley I. Shrauger

Shirley I. Shrauger Portville, NY Shirley I. Shrauger of 185 W. Carroll Rd., passed away Wednesday (March 13, 2024) at The Pines of Olean. Born December 7, 1934 in Mohawk, she was the daughter of Stewart D. and Rispah H. Murdoch Monroe. On June 26, 1970 in the town of Wheatfield she married Joseph F. Shrauger who predeceased her May 14, 2008. She was raised in the Methodist faith and enjoyed attending the Columbia Center, NY Methodist Church. After moving to Portville, Shirley worked as a home health aide for Cattaraugus County for several years before retirement. Along with her husband she always enjoyed vegetable gardening and later loved spending time outdoors tending to her flower gardens. She leaves behind 2 sons Larry (Janet) Shrauger of Olean and Duane Shrauger of Portville; 2 grandsons Aaron (Allie) Shrauger and Jeremy (Cynthia) Shrauger; 3 great grandchildren Josshua, and twins Erin Shrauger and Jane Shrauger, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends are welcome to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday (March 23, 2024) from 10am to 11am at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A memorial service will begin at 11am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Homecare and Hospice, 115 E.
