Obituary of Elaine L. Bello

Elaine L. Bello Olean, NY Elaine L. Bello, 91, a former longtime resident of Fountain St., and more recently Field of Dreams in Allegany, passed away Thursday (October 5, 2023) at the Cuba Skilled Nursing Facility. Born March 25, 1932 in Olean, she was the daughter of Charles and Lelia Bates Hamilton, Sr. On September 3, 1949 at St. John’s Church in Olean, she married Anthony J. Bello who predeceased her December 12, 2011. Elaine was a graduate of Olean High School. In addition to raising her children, she worked for a number of years for the former Loretta Foods, and the Olean Tile Plant. She was also a school bus monitor. Family was very important to her. She loved family gatherings, picnics, and going for rides while listening to Elvis Presley music. She was at peace sitting outside in the backyard by her flower garden and watching and listening to the birds. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed cooking for her family, keeping a flower garden for all to enjoy, and dancing. She is survived by 3 daughters Katherine (William) James of Olean, Susan (Edward) Mikolajczyk of Olean, and Teresa Leonard of Franklinville; 2 sons Anthony Bello, Jr., and Peter (Kathy) Bello of Ischua; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; 1 sister Marion Yehl of Allegany, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by 4 sisters Shirley Dorenkamper, Doris Hamilton, Jane Rich, and Peral Merrick; 3 brothers Charles Hamilton, Jr., Russell Hamilton, and George Hamilton; and 2 stepsisters, Virginia Farleo and Eloise Taylor. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday (October 10, 2023) from noon until 2pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A funeral service will begin at 2pm in the funeral home. Chaplain Terry Bush will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
