Fraternal Order of Eagle, Eastern Regional President, Harold “Pete” Vaughn passed away on Friday July 29 at a Olean New York Hospital. Pete joined the Eagles on March 19, 1979, rolled up his sleeves and started volunteering right away. Pete worked his way up to and became the Olean Aerie #616 President, serving no less than three times as president. He enjoyed the hard work of being an Aerie Trustee and served in that position almost the entire time he was an Olean Eagle member. In 2008 Pete became the Fraternal Order of Eagles, New York State Aerie President and in 2012 went on to become the State Membership Chairman. Pete signed up over 100 members himself in his 44 year membership. Pete was about to receive his 45 year pin in March 2024. The International President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles appointed Pete as the Eastern Regional President at last week’s Grand Aerie Convention in Reno. Pete was always involved in sports committees with the Eagles, softball, bowling, etc. and he loved coordinating the New York State Eagles Hospitality Room at the Grand Aerie Conventions. Many years ago the State Aerie discontinued using State Aerie funds for the hospitality room, Pete took it upon himself the raise the funds needed to support it. Pete was so good at fund raising for the hospitality room, often funds would be left over after the Grand Aerie Convention and he’d see the funds were donate to State Charities. Pete is in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, New York State Hall of Fame. Prayers and condolences to wife, Ruth Fitch.
