Douglas E. Warner Allegany, NY Douglas E. Warner, 93, of Allegany, passed away Friday (June 9, 2023) at Absolut Care of Allegany. Born June 4, 1930 in Olean, he was the son of Robert R. and Elizabeth Splain Warner. On October 9, 1964 in Duke Center, PA he married Carolyn McCord who survives. Doug was born and raised in Olean and graduated from Olean High School in 1948. In his youth Doug played the accordion and enjoyed roller skating and skiing. He first began working for A. E. Schoenburg Co. in Olean as an architectural draftsman. He put his job on hold and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served honorably from 1950 to 1953, in Okinawa supporting the Korean War efforts. After his service he returned to his draftsman’s job for an additional 7 years. He then worked for Producer’s Gas Co. which later became National Fuel Gas serving many years as a dispatcher, payroll clerk, locations mapper, and other duties associated with maintaining a smooth-running office. He retired in 1992. He enjoyed his many years of retirement with an interest in cars and airplanes. He also loved his pets throughout his life including a chicken, dogs and cats over the years. An everyday part of his adult life included visiting a coffee shop before work each morning and socializing with his friends over coffee in retirement. He leaves behind his wife Carolyn; 1 son Scott (Kathy) Warner of Allegany; 3 grandchildren Kohl Carpenter, Kate Warner, and Kai Warner, and many other loving relatives and friends. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A funeral service will be held Friday (June 16, 2023) at 11am in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 34 N. 4th St., Allegany. Rev. Gerald Lefeber will officiate. Burial will follow in Allegany Cemetery with full military honors being accorded by the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of your choice.
