Obituary of Cindy L. McKinnis

Olean, NY – Cindy L. McKinnis passed away Monday (June 5, 2023) unexpectedly at her home. Born March 19, 1973, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Leo and Catherine Houghtling Waters. On December 7, 2011, in Letchworth State Park she married Matthew McKinnis who survives. Cindy enjoyed music, reading, computer science, collecting first edition signed books and was very knowledgeable on various topics. She will be sorely missed by her birds and her German Shepard, Dakota. She was known for having a photographic memory and for her great mind and soul. She went to Scio Central School and still holds a school record. She attended Alfred State College for Computer Science, Mansfield University for Computer Electrical Sciences and Empire State University for Psychology. Cindy had recently started attending the Pentecostal Church in Olean and was proud to have been baptized May 7, 2023. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father Leo (Diana) Waters of Greenwood; a brother John (Kristy) Waters of Cummings, GA; a daughter Jordan ; her aunts and uncles Beverly (William) Gleason, Mary Faulkner, Donna Jean Waters, Dale Waters, Jimmy Waters, and Dave ( Christine) Waters. She was predeceased by her mother, Catherine Waters and her aunt Margaret Waters Ormsby, Charlotte Waters Spicer. Friends will be received on Wednesday (June 14, 2023) from 11am to 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A memorial service will begin at 1 pm in the funeral home. Rev. Steve Beattie, pastor of The Pentecostals of Olean Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
