Obituary of David R. Moshier

Allegany, NY David R. Moshier,71, of 4115 S. Nine Mile Rd., Lot 192, passed away Sunday (April 16, 2023) at home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born December 22, 1951 in Olean, he was the son of John A. Moshier and Irene Foster Moshier Pierce. On June 14, 1975 at St. Bonaventure University Chapel, he married Sandra K. Whitmer.
David was a 1969 graduate of Allegany Central School and received a degree in mathematics from St. Bonaventure University in 1975. From 1978 to 1986 he and Sandra lived in Texas and several other states while he worked for Seismograph Service out of Tulsa, OK. They returned to Allegany, NY in 1987 and he started as a Human Resource Specialist for Cattaraugus County until 2004, at which time he became Director of Human Resources until his retirement in June of 2014.
David enjoyed working on hot-rod cars, doing woodworking, and more recently enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and Sudoku puzzles. David also enjoyed taking family vacations to the Outer Banks.
He is survived by his wife and best friend Sandra; 2 daughters Penny (Joseph) Everetts of Monroe, NC and Nikki (Sean) Pratt of Hinsdale who were his pride and joy; his 5 grandchildren Shaelin Everetts, Ryleigh Everetts, Rianna Everetts, Coby Spiller, and Casi Pratt; 8 brothers and sisters, John (Cindy) Moshier of Allegany, Daniel (Lynn) Moshier of Allegany, Nina (Duane) Dutton of Skiatook, OK, Thomas (Chris) Moshier of Monroe, NC, Garry (Theresa) Moshier of Silver Springs, MD, Carol (David) Ozzella of Allegany, Barb (Robert) Driscoll of Allegany, and Tania (Bill) Hilliard of Allegany, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father.
Friends will be received Wednesday (April 19, 2023) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean. Funeral services will be held Thursday (April 20) at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Adam Stein will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
