Obituary of Sylvia A. Poweska

Sylvia A. Poweska Olean, NY Sylvia A. Poweska, of Olean, passed away Saturday (April 1, 2023) at Absolut Care of Salamanca where she had resided since this past December. Born March 23, 1958 in Olean, she was the daughter of William and Shirley Shoup Showers. Sylvia liked being home where she could enjoy crocheting, working fill-in books, and watching Hallmark movies. She loved all animals, especially her cat. She was also an adoring Elvis Presley fan. She leaves behind a daughter, Lisa (Lyman) Remington; a son, Adam Radcliff of Olean; a grandson, and several nieces and nephews including Richard (Tegan) Stanton and David Showers, Jr., both of Olean. Her siblings include Dora Showers, Linda Showers, Joan Stanton, David Showers, Eddie Showers, and Michael Showers. No services are being planned at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be announced. Memorials may be made to the SPCA of Cattaraugus County, 1644 Olean-Hinsdale Rd., Olean, NY 14760. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
