Obituary of Melissa J. Shearer

Melissa J. Shearer Olean, NY Melissa J. Shearer, of 933 Brook St., passed away Sunday (March 12, 2023) at the Olean General Hospital. Born March 15, 1973 in Olean, she was the daughter of Donald and Elizabeth Hemmerly McFall. Melissa was a graduate of Olean High School and attended BOCES as well. She worked at various places including Eden Heights, Burger King, and then as a caretaker for the ReHabilitation Center. Additionally she provided in-home day care and worked for Venture Forthe Home Health Care Agency. She always enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, as well as crafting, cooking, and celebrating the holidays. She leaves behind 3 children Logan Shearer, Taylor Shearer, and Jaret Shearer; 1 granddaughter Luna; 1 sister Michelle McFall of Olean; 1 aunt Penny Hemmerly of Rochester, and a nephew Zak Hemmerly. She was predeceased by her parents, her maternal grandparents Fred and Helen Hemmerly, and her paternal grandparents Referee and Betty McFall. The family will greet friends on Saturday (April 1, 2023) from 10am until noon at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A celebration of life service will begin at 12pm in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
