Veronica E. “Bonnie” Champlin
Olean, NY Veronica E. “Bonnie” Champlin, 76, formerly of Olean and formerly a 6-year resident of the Randolph Manor, and a resident of Absolut Care of Salamanca for the past year, passed away Tuesday (April 19, 2022) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born October 21, 1945 in the town of Wirt, she was the daughter of Howard and Martha Hackett Benjamin. On January 21, 1968 in Wirt she married James V. Champlin who predeceased her October 27, 1997.
Bonnie was a resident of Olean most of her life until moving to Randolph in her later years. She always was most contented in the comfort of her home where she enjoyed doing word searches and watching the Hallmark channel.
She leaves behind 1 son Scott (Lisa) Champlin of Randolph; 1 daughter Kathleen “Kat” Champlin of Salamanca; 8 grandchildren James Champlin, John Sciotti, Lillian Sciotti, Jaydan Champlin, Ryleigh-Ann Champlin, Paisley Champlin, Raeygan Champlin and Zoey Champlin; 2 stepsons David Champlin of Port Allegany, PA and Carl “Topper” Champlin of Eldred, PA; 1 stepdaughter Penny Champlin of Coudersport, PA; brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter Mary E. Champlin on January 30, 1978, a stepson James Champlin and several siblings.
The family will receive friends on Saturday (April 23, 2022) from 1-3pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A funeral service will begin at 3pm in the funeral home. Rev. Al Meyers, pastor of Levant Church in Falconer, will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, Olean.
