Bolivar, NY-- Mark D. !McLaughlin of 51 Olean St. died Saturday (May 1, 2004) in his home after a short illness.
Born May 13, 1956 in Wichita Falls, TX he was the son of Douglas James and Alice Jean Potter !McLaughlin.
Mr. !McLaughlin attended school in Texas, at Immaculate Conception in Wellsville and also in Dover, __ . In 1976 he enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Kittyhawk, serving mostly in the Mid East. In 1978 he moved to Crockett, TX and began working for Quest Co., specializing in customizing vans. He also worked on an Arabian horse ranch in Crockett, and later worked for a printing press company for a number of years. He moved to Jacksonville, TX and, as an excellent carpenter and builder, worked as a dock builder for Rodney West Construction Co.
Mr. !McLaughlin loved to play guitar and he loved the water, particularly fishing and boating. He mostly loved his family and enjoyed bringing laughter to others.
Surviving are his mother of Bolivar; his father of Towanda, PA; his paternal grandmother Ellen S. !McLaughlin of Bath, NY; two daughters Amanda !McLaughlin of Nacogdoches, TX and Stacey (Steven) Moore of Houston, TX; 3 granddaughters; one brother Michael (Ann) !McLaughlin of Wellsville; two sisters !JoAnn (David) Haugh of Anchorage, AL and Roxanne (Dan Williams) !McLaughlin of Whitesville, NY and several nieces and nephews and several cousins, especially Wesley and Connie Knight of Bolivar.
Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (May 4, 2004) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Homecare and Hospice 118 N. Main St. Wellsville, NY 14895.
