Obituary of Rosemarie Matteson

Rosemarie Matteson Ischua, NY Rosemarie Matteson, 82, of 2860 Williams Hollow Rd., passed away Monday (November 15, 2021) at her residence of natural causes, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 21, 1939 in Bolivar, she was the daughter of Leslie P. and Ruth V. Champlin Tarr. She was married to Donald E. Matteson, Sr. who predeceased her August 7, 2005. For many years she was a close companion to DeForest “Fuzzy” Wilber who died in November of 2018. Rosemarie grew up in Bolivar. She enjoyed reading, singing and she loved playing bingo. Family was of utmost importance to her, and she was wonderful at taking care of others. Surviving are 6 children Donna (Rick) Button of Bolivar, Luan (Leonard) Woodruff of Hinsdale, Donald E. Matteson, Jr. of Randolph, Martin J. (Denise Spears) Matteson of Olean, Deborah (Russell) Wilber of Hinsdale and Dorene (Michael) Weir of Olean; 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; Delores “Dee Dee” Brent, whom she raised like a granddaughter; Tim “Beanie” Hanson whom she raised like a son; 4 siblings Gene Tarr, Shari Common, Leslie (Sandy) Tarr, Jr. and Gary (Angel) Tarr, Sr. and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Donald, and her companion DeForest, she was predeceased by 2 sisters Barbara McDonald and Maryanne Dash and 1 brother Keith Tarr. The family invites friends to join them for a reception and celebration of Rosemarie’s life on Saturday (November 20, 2021 from 1-5pm at the Ischua Bingo Hall. Memorials may be made to the Cattaraugus County SPCA 2944 Olean-Hinsdale Rd., Olean, NY 4760 or to the Ischua Fire Department, 5634 NY-16, Hinsdale, NY 14743.
