Olean, NY- Richard C. Van Ness, 67, of Olean, passed away Sunday (November 7, 2021) at the Salamanca Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Salamanca.
Born January 10, 1954 in Olean, he was the son of Bernard and Lucille Lippert Kayes, Sr.
Richard attended Olean High School and was previously employed at AVX Ceramics and Beef N Barrel restaurant, both in Olean.
In his free time, he enjoyed playing guitar, motorcycles, watching the Buffalo Bills, listening to the Rolling Stones, and he loved animals.
Surviving are his siblings Lynda Wolfe of Olean, William Van Ness of Olean, Timothy Van Ness of Olean, Bernard (Diana) Kayes, Jr. of Buffalo, Michael (Katherine) Kayes of Olean, James (Lisa) Kayes of Olean and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday (November 15, 2021) from 4pm -7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday (November 16, 2021) at 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels in Olean. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
