He may have grown old, but he was always young at heart.

He was always going above and beyond for those that he cared for. I miss seeing that and getting to be one of those people. I miss sitting with him and chatting on his porch. I miss him yelling at me for not having the ambition to learn how to cook. I miss seeing him work hard and seeing the results. He was there to help me every time I moved, and I had always hoped he would be here to help me move into my first home. I miss him being here for those special moments. He may have been my grandpa, but he was more like a dad. I miss everything, but the thing I miss the most is hearing him say how proud he was of me and the potential he saw in me and hearing him say I am his favorite oldest granddaughter.
Forever my love grandpa

Joanie, I am so sorry to read Gary passed away. I haven’t seen him since our YMCA days 30+ yrs ago. I remember he was so good at fixing things at the Y and that he later commuted to Buffalo to work for Dave Carpenter, another former Y employee. Sending my sympathy to you and his family.

May Gary rest in peace. He helped me at a very difficult time when he brought the bed my mother needed when she too was dealing with cancer. I will always remember Gary in a special way.
