Antonie Elizabeth Reilly
Olean, NY Antonie Elizabeth Reilly, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Sunday (September 12, 2021) at Olean General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and the caring nurses of Olean General Hospital, after years of bravely battling dementia.
Antonie, often known to friends as Toni, was born in Munich Germany September 16, 1933 where she grew up with her loving parents Clementina and Anton and best friend and little brother, Rudy. Antonie spent her youth in the midst of WWII, and left Germany in 1953 to marry an American soldier, William Holcomb, who died in 1987. Antonie later found love with Gerald Reilly, and the two were married in 1997. They spent many days in the Florida sunshine and traveled the world together. Sadly, Gerald, lovingly known as Jerry, passed away in 2001.
Antonie spent the remaining years of her life in the home she and Jerry shared in Singer Island, Florida. She spent mornings walking the island, afternoons in the pool, and evenings amongst dear friends of her Sugar Sands community. Toni was as beautiful on the outside as she was on the inside, with her classic sense of style and the most outstanding taste in jewelry. She enjoyed summer days in Olean with walks along the river, local festivals, and front porch chats with friends and family. Road trips to Atlantic City brought wonderful times with her daughters and grandchildren, all laughing under one roof.
Toni lived out the last years of her life sharing her gorgeous smile and infectious laughter with so many. This was a gift to her family, made entirely possible by the incredibly caring staff at both Eden Heights of Olean and later Field of Dreams in Allegany. The staff became like family, and they each brought out the very best parts of her. Her family is forever grateful.
Antonie is survived by daughters, Lisa Rajski of Machias and Ann Walker of Olean; her son-in-law, Dan Walker of Olean; grandchildren, Lauren Caya, Kristen Nawrot, Avery Rajski, and Miles Rajski; grandsons-in-law, Andrew Caya and Ryan Nawrot; and her great-grandchildren Finnian, Emmet, Grayson, Lochlan, Nash, Preston and Kyle.
The family welcomes friends to join them at a funeral service to be held Friday (September 17, 2021) at 10am at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Burial will be alongside her husband William Holcomb in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
Memorials may be made with a donation to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, where Toni found both employment and friendship with her fellow co-workers after the death of her husband William. Donations may also be made to the Alzheimer's Association and their endless efforts to find a cure.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
