Obituary of Ruby A. Skroback

Ruby A. Skroback Allegany, NY Ruby A. Skroback, 94, of Four Mile Rd., passed away peacefully Wednesday (January 27, 2021) at the Olean General Hospital after a recent illness. Born July 23, 1926 in Allegany, she was the daughter of Oakley and Catherine Lauer Phearsdorf, Sr. On June 25, 1949 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean, she married Steven E. Skroback who predeceased her April 1, 1989. Ruby was a 1944 graduate of Allegany High School. She worked for a period of time for the former Rathburn Molding Co. in Salamanca as well as Acme Electric Co. in Allegany. She was a long time member of St. Bonaventure Church as well as its Altar and Rosary Society, and also belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America and the Allegany Area Historical Association. She volunteered with the Homecare and Hospice Guild and helped with other organizations in the area. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed her family and her flower garden. She leaves behind her loving daughter Denise Skroback of Allegany. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Valerie J. Skroback on October 2, 2001. The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday (January 30, 2021) from 10am to noon. A funeral service will begin at noon in the funeral home. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor of St. Bonaventure Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allegany Rescue and EMS, Inc., PO Box 217, Allegany, NY 14706, the Allegany Area Historical Association, PO Box 162, Allegany, NY 14706, or a charity of the donor's choice.
