Thomas A. Pepperdine
Allegany, NY Thomas A. Pepperdine, of Carey Hollow Rd., passed away on Sunday (January 26, 2020) at the Olean General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded in love by his family.
Born May 11, 1952 in Bradford, PA, he was the son of the late Robert and Lillian Stevens Pepperdine. On July 7, 1973 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, he married the love of his life, Linda M. Nolan, who survives.
Tom was a 1970 graduate of Allegany Central School and resided in Knapp Creek and Allegany his entire life.
He began working for Craftsmen Printing in Olean and later worked as a machinist for Dresser Rand Co. He then owned and operated Duraclean Master Cleaners in Allegany for many years until his retirement.
In his youth, Tom and his parents and siblings were a horse-loving family. He raised and trained standardbred-trotting horses and, along with his father, was licensed to drive them. He participated in races in County Fairs throughout Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania. He also raised, broke and drove colts.
To his family, he was a strong, witty and influential man. He delighted in the serenity of his home and the company of his wife Linda. Throughout his life he enjoyed a variety of activities and hobbies that included hunting, snowmobiling, riding ATV's, woodworking, as well as fishing the Allegheny River with Jeff Peck of Warren, PA. He enjoyed spending time gardening and helping to maintain the Barnum Road property. His loyal, loving companions among his many pets were Hungarian Vizsla dogs who were members of the family.
Surviving besides his wife Linda of 46 years, are a sister Carole (Don) Partridge of Charleston, SC and several nieces and nephews, four of whom were his Godchildren; Lynn Sweitzer, Jenna Seebeck, Sean Weinman and Kristine Nolan. Two of them, Lynn and Jenna, he held dear in his heart, and they looked upon him with affection and regard for the strong presence he had in each of their lives. He is also survived by Linda's family including her mother Bernice Nolan of Allegany, and Linda's siblings, Kathy (Mark Bindner) Ascioti, David (Grace) Nolan, Mary (John Priest) Fair and Nancy (Warren) Sinclair.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother Robert Pepperdine and two sisters Sally Weinman, and Gail Sweitzer and her husband Robert and his father-in-law Paul Nolan.
The family will gather privately for a memorial service at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
Memorial donations may be made to The Renodin Foundation, affiliated with the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, 115 E. Main St. Allegany, NY 14706. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
