Duane P. Hyde
Allegany, NY Duane P. Hyde, recently of 3 Devereux Drive, formerly of Portville, passed away Wednesday (August 22, 2018) at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 28, 1936 in Olean he was the son of Glenn and Blanche Riehle Hyde. On July 5, 1958 at St. Johns Church in Olean he married Virginia Maine who survives.
Mr. Hyde was a 1953 graduate of Olean High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably from 1956 to 1957. He had been employed by First National Bank, Wirthmore Feed and most recently retired in 1990 from the Olean Tile Co. where he was a Sales Service Supervisor.
He enjoyed being outdoors and was active in boating, camping, tennis, water skiing and playing euchre with his family. He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 children; Bonnie (Dennis) Whittaker of Portville, Steven (Amy) Hyde of Germantown, MD and Nancy Burgeson of Allegany; 11 grandchildren Joshua (Stepheni) Whittaker, Kirsten Whittaker, Adam Whittaker, Hannah Whittaker, Rachel Whittaker, Courtney Hyde, Bradley Hyde, Matthew Hyde, Lauren Stroud, Alyssa Stroud and Alyson Stroud ; 1 great grandson Landon Motter and many nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by two sister Ellen Thierman and Marie Gerringer and a beloved son-in-law James Burgeson.
Friends will be received on Friday from 7-9 pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 am Saturday (August 25,2018) at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
