Kathleen A. Howden "Loving wife, mother and grandmother"
Allegany, NY Kathleen A. Howden of 3215 Five Mile Rd. passed away Thursday (January 25, 2018) at her home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born October 31, 1947 in Salamanca she was the daughter of James and Mary Rettberg DeHart. On July 2, 1970 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean she married Mark Howden who survives.
Kathleen was a 1965 graduate of Allegany Central School and later graduated from Olean Business Institute. She worked for 11 years as an executive secretary for the former Acme Electric Co. in Allegany. She then worked for 33 years as a medical receptionist for the Olean Medical Group prior to her retirement.
She enjoyed flower gardening, shopping and decorating for all the holidays. She especially enjoyed passing along her love of baking to her granddaughter Kylee. No matter the occasion, her favorite times were spent in the company of both her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Surviving besides her husband of 48 years are a daughter Lisa (Michael) Kiener of Allegany; a grandson Evan Kiener; a granddaughter Kylee Kiener; a brother James (Patricia) DeHart of Land 'O Lakes, FL and 2 nephews.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 5-8pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Monday (January 29, 2018) at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
