Margaret F. Garvin

Olean, NY     Margaret F. Garvin, formerly of 1905 W. State St. passed away Thursday (December 14, 2017) at the Cuba Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility.

Born January 23, 1926 in Ellicottville she was the daughter of William and Rose Phillips Monihan.  She was married to James C. Garvin who predeceased her April 21, 1971.

Mrs. Garvin was a 1944 graduate of Olean High School and later attended Westbrook Commercial Academy.  She had been employed for many years in the housekeeping department at St. Bonaventure University prior to her retirement in 1988.

She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and she always had a fondness for animals, especially dogs and cats.  She was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels in Olean.

Surviving are 3 children Rosemary Garvin, Jim (Marlene) Garvin and Suzanne Garvin, all of Olean.

She was predeceased by a son Michael C. Garvin on December 17, 2014 and a sister Helen Monihan on August 1, 1974.

There will be no visitation.  A private burial service is being planned by the family that will be next to her husband at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Belfast.
