Gerald W. "Bud" Ayers
Allegany, NY Gerald W. "Bud" Ayers of 4565 S. Nine Mile Rd. passed away Wednesday (December 27, 2017) at home with loved ones present.
Born December 10, 1928 at his family home in Allegany he was a son of Elba H. and Julia A. Dieteman Ayers. On October 5, 1946 in Portville he married Marie J. Smith who predeceased him April 14, 2014.
Mr. Ayers resided at the same address on the S. Nine Mile Rd. since his infancy and attended the one-room schoolhouse a short distance from his home. He was a dairy farmer his entire life and always enjoyed growing a big garden each year. In later years he enjoyed traveling with his wife and camping in their motor home.
He leaves behind his loving children Mary Lou (Mike) Krott of Bemus Point, Jean (Dan) Balus of Allegany, Daniel Ayers of Allegany, Gary (Kimberly) Ayers of Allegany, Delores (Ron) Thompson of Olean, Laura Ullman of Scio, David (Paula) Ayers of Allegany, Bonnie (Thomas) Gilray of Allegany and Patty (Ed) Giardini of Allegany; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his loving wife of 67 years, he was predeceased by a sister Geraldine Pixley, a brother Paul J. Dieteman and a son-in-law Mark W. Ullman.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday (December 30, 2017) at 12:30pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, will officiate.
