Vivian A. Layton
Olean, NY Vivian A. Layton of 1725 Park St. entered into the arms of the Lord on Friday (October 20, 2017) at Olean General Hospital.
Born April 6, 1930 in Olean she was the daughter of Charles G. and Laura V. Miller Holtz. On October 25, 1952 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany she married Richard C. Layton who survives.
Mrs. Layton was a graduate of Allegany Central School and was a soft-spoken, compassionate woman who enjoyed raising her family and serving the Lord. She worked for over 10 years for the former Family Bargain Center and later for Johnny's News Stand, both in Olean. She then provided independent Home Care to area families.
She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany, was devoted to her faith and loved and cared for animals.
Surviving are 5 children Karen (Dan) Valdez of Hudson, FL, Kathy (Mike Lippert) Baire of Limestone, Linda (David) Mueller of Tampa, FL, Richard (Becky) Layton of Winston-Salem, NC and William Layton of Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Norma Holtz of Olean and Carol (Edwin) Constant of Orient, NY and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 3 sisters Ruth Bennett, Doris Holtz and Rita Bennett and 5 brothers Edward Holtz, Thomas Holtz, Charles Holtz, John Holtz and Floyd Holtz.
Friends will be received on Thursday (October 26, 2017) from noon to 3pm. Services will begin at 3pm in the funeral home. Rev. Dan Buringrud, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
