Olean, NY Shirley A. Fries of 1619 N. Union St. passed away Saturday (September 2, 2017) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born January 25, 1932 in Blasdell she was a daughter of Leonard and Alvena Gastle Boye. On May 24, 1952 in Franklinville she married James J. Fries who predeceased her February 13, 2005.
Mrs. Fries was a graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville. Years ago she ran the Junior Bowling League in Franklinville. She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children and her love of family continued as she watched her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Surviving are a son Jefry Fries of Allegany; 2 daughters Alvena (Brian) Babb of Allegany and Susan (Lawrence) Grigsby of Olean; 7 grandchildren Jason (Erika) Fries, Jennifer (Dusty) Benson, Eric (Deanna Dunbar) Grigsby, Elizabeth Grigsby, Mark Grigsby, Aaron (Holly) Babb and Casey Babb; 5 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Alice Boye.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Allegany Cemetery.
