Obituary of Mabelle F. Shearer

Mabelle F. Shearer "Loved to Dance" OLEAN – Mabelle F. Shearer of Olean died Monday October 18, 2004 in the Bradford Manor Nursing Home, Bradford, PA following a long illness. Born in Olean on January 28, 1914 she was a daughter of Chester A. and Mabel L. Beabout Parker. In 1933 at the First Baptist Church in Olean, she married William C. Shearer who predeceased her May 25, 1980. Mrs. Shearer was a graduate of Olean High School and resided in Olean all of her life, most recently at Spring Court Apartments, Eden Heights and the Bradford Manor. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olean and served as a past officer of the Olean Senior League where she was active with the Entertainers and Dancers. She was a community minded person who participated in RSVP from 1981 through 1996. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Mabelle enjoyed dancing, crocheting, knitting traveling and reading. She is survived by six children, Terry (Patty) Shearer of Olean, Robert (Sharon) Shearer of Ft. Myers, FL, L. Alan (Kathy) Shearer of Alexandria, VA, Jacqueline (James) Wheeler of Dunnellon, FL, Nancy (Mark) Klimczyk of Olean and Richard Shearer of Oakland, CA; 21 grandchildren, 29 Great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; 5 sisters Gloria Ripley of Scottsdale, AZ, Eleanor Hand of Eldred, PA, Phyllis Muccino of Allegany, Dorothy (Ralph) Sheldon of Silver Springs, MD and Rowena Clark of Idaho and several nieces and nephews In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother Richard A. Parker and two sisters, Marian Shelton and Josephine Gueder. Friends will be received on Saturday October 23, 2004 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday (October 24) at the First Baptist Church of Olean at 4:00 PM. Rev. Alexandra Freer, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
